US-Based Space Technology Company Expands Engagement with aPriori, Extending It To A Multi-Million Dollar Three-Year Contract

The expansion will enable the first phase of automation/integration of aPriori across the customer’s product development and extend it to design engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, accelerating development timelines while lowering costs significantly.

This engagement proves that when you offer product value, strong ROI, and exceptional service, there’s a good chance that the engagement will extend to other areas of the organization.

For the past nine months, the customer has expanded its use of aPriori several times. Starting with their cost engineering group, the engagement has now moved to delivering value to the Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering verticals.

The company saw the value in aPriori’s automated solution to ensure all facets of product development could leverage our manufacturing insights. In April, as a result of the company’s decision to fully integrate aPriori where appropriate, they joined our group of Enterprise customers, which enables full access to the aPriori product suite across the entire organization.

On the Design side, they will be integrating aPriori with PTC’s Windchill PLM and automating the creation of aPriori’s “Design Scorecard” for all parts that are designed and released through their standard product development process. This will enable early detection of potential manufacturing risks and areas for cost improvement. This objective analysis “gamifies” the design review and enables the designer, regardless of manufacturing experience, to pinpoint the “hot spots” for design improvement, before parts are released to production.

On the Supply Chain side, the intent is to proactively classify parts to influence the make vs buy decision and determine where to purchase if necessary. Having a mechanistic approach to assigning commodity codes to their parts and products will yield increased consistency and predictability relative to lead times and selecting ideal suppliers.

The company had greenlit full access to our solutions across its enterprise by the first half of this year. This latest expansion has resulted in a design engineering contract that brings this customer’s engagement to a total investment of  ~$6.5M over three years.

Over the next three years, the company will roll out aPriori to its Design, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams with the goal of increasing production speed and capability by 5x while lowering costs significantly.
