Global Heavy Construction Equipment Company Renews and Expands Engagement with aPriori

The $4.3 billion company offers a range of durable heavy equipment for construction and material handling worldwide, including North America.

When many of our customers think of aPriori, they think “strategic.” This customer is also leveraging aPriori as a strategic platform to achieve the company CEO’s mandate to lead innovation and sustainability within the global construction industry. The team was committed to this strategy.

An aPriori customer since 2022, the company recently renewed their contract. In April, aPriori conducted a seminar at the company’s corporate headquarters, attended by 150 engineers and executives, including the Executive Vice President responsible for Global R&D.

aPriori outlined the early achievements of this engagement, including the company’s ability to quickly ship EV front loaders. Such early achievements set into motion a four-year deployment plan across divisions and the company’s design organizations.  Details for this business case & deployment timeline include:

  • Recurring cost overruns at the design stage, with actual production costs exceeding 20% of its target, have disrupted pricing and schedules
  • aPriori’s manufacturing insights (manufacturing process models, economic rates, and governance) are now deployed as the company’s core costing engine for equipment such as a wheel loader and excavator
  • aPriori and the customer’s cross-functional team (design, process, costing, and IT) built a “master digital factory” to automatically evaluate sheet metal, CNC, casting, forging, and stamping routes and validate feature-based should cost accuracy

The resulting should cost model now anchors design trade-offs and supplier negotiations and is fully integrated into procurement workflows.

This pilot program realized a 40 % lower cost estimate than legacy methods, drastically reducing late-stage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and accelerating time to market.

The trajectory of aPriori’s engagement with this customer is proof of the transformative power of AI-driven manufacturing simulation and insights.

The journey has progressed from the pilot inception in mid-2022 and the build and first win in 2023 to the standardization of the digital factory as the single core business cost source in 2024 and the design-stage expansion in 2025. As a result, the company is well-positioned to expand and leverage aPriori across divisions as we move into 2026.
