Install the VPE baseline update
Most updates require you to perform an import of an aPriori Baseline Update. This changes some costing data in the aPriori starting point VPEs and makes other important changes.
Concerns about changing costing data might make you consider skipping this step. Please note that the costing data in your configured VPEs are not changed, unless these are explicitly updated to match the newest cost data.
IMPORTANT! If a baseline update is provided as part of an upgrade, this import cannot be skipped. If there are any concerns about this, then contact aPriori Customer Support before beginning your upgrade
Note: It is recommended that you apply the baseline update while users are not actively using aPriori, but it is not a requirement. Be sure to notify users that this is taking place to avoid confusion since a cost estimate using a baseline VPE may change.
1 If you are a super user, acquire the baseline update installation file and proceed to the next step in this process. For more information, see Acquiring the Installation Files.
If you are not a super user, you cannot access the UI until the baseline update is installed, but you can import the baseline update using the cmdLine tool:
a. Open a cmd console and cd to aPriori installation directory:
cd <ap_install>\bin
b. Execute this script:
loadBaselineUpdate <full_path_to_baseline_update_file> <ap_username> <ap_password>
where ap_username is both an Admin & a VPE Admin
2 Install the baseline update:
a. Login to the aPriori client that you just installed. If you do not have a desktop shortcut, you can launch the aPriori client from the runStandaloneApriori.cmd script. The runStandaloneApriori.cmd script is in the \bin directory of the aPriori installation folder.
b. Click on the Tools menu, then select VPE Toolset.
c. From the VPE toolset, click the File menu, Import aPriori Baseline Update…
d. Navigate to the file you downloaded. Note that if you used Internet Explorer to download the file, the file extension was likely changed from .apx to .zip. Therefore, when browsing for the file, you may need to change the “Files of type:” filter from .apx to All Files.

Note: Baseline updates must be imported into each deployment.
3 After the baseline update has finished importing, test the installation to make sure everything is working properly. If so, remove the old version of the aPriori client software that was renamed in a previous step (C:\aPriori_old) and install the new version on the rest of the client computers.
