Cost Algorithms and Calculations
Total injection molding costs aggregate the costs of material, labor, equipment, and tooling. Typically, tooling accounts for a significant portion of the total cost. The part’s wall thickness and material (because they affect cooling time) have a significant impact on both labor and tooling costs.
This section details how costs are calculated by aPriori. Note that you can override the calculation of many of the quantities involved, and specify them explicitly—see User Inputs for Plastic Molding, below.
