Setup Options for Gears
AxiGroove-related setup options include the following:
Hob Machine and Shaver
• Hobbing and Shaving:
o Number of Starts: Number of hob starts (parallel helices of hob teeth), which ranges between one helix (best quality and slowest cycle time) and three helices (poorest quality and fastest cycle time).
The default is 1, if the AxiGroove’s number of teeth is less than the cost model variable minNumTeethForMultistart. Otherwise, the default is 3, if defaultNumStarts is greater than or equal to 3 and the number of teeth is not divisible by 3. Otherwise, the default is 2, if defaultNumStarts is greater than or equal to 2 and the number of teeth is not divisible by 2. Otherwise the default is 1.
