Costing a bulk cost group
Once you have set the bulk cost input fields as desired, you are ready to cost the bulk cost group. The time required to cost the group is dependent on the number and complexity of the components in the group.
To cost a bulk cost group
1 Select the button to cost the group of parts.
2 If any of the components in the bulk cost group have previously been costed, the Begin Bulk Costing window will appear with a message that identifies these components and asks if you want to continue.
If you select Yes, the official scenarios of the previously costed parts will be overwritten.
If you do not want to overwrite the previous official scenarios, you can remove the component(s) from the bulk cost group. Alternatively, before bulk costing, you could first go to the main aPriori application and create a new scenario for a part that is a copy of the official scenario. This new scenario will then retain the previously-costed value.
3 Specify how to group cost results once the bulk costing has completed on the Add to Rollup window. You can:
Add to existing rollup
Include in new rollup
Do not include in a rollup
By default, all the components in the bulk costing group are included in a new roll-up.
If you are costing a large group of unrelated parts that you ultimately want to analyze in smaller cohesive groups, select “Do not include in a rollup.” When the parts have completed costing, then you can create rollups based on relevant groupings (i.e., all plastic parts in a specific project, sheet metal parts costed on a specific date etc.)
For more information on using Rollups, see Using roll-ups on page 1.
Select an option and click OK.
4 aPriori will begin costing each component in turn in the main aPriori window. When aPriori has completed costing the bulk cost group, the Bulk Costing Complete window will appear.
The window will note the total number of components processed and the number that costed successfully. If any components failed to cost or only partially costed, the system will identify those components and provide details of the costing issues for each component. For more information on understanding costing failures during Bulk Costing, see Understanding cost failures during bulk costing on page 1.
Click OK to dismiss the window. The Bulk Cost and Analysis results will be displayed in a rollup in the main aPriori window.
