Working with the Overrides Summary dialog
As a companion to the ability to override computed values, aPriori provides a Cost Overrides Summary dialog.
This dialog summarizes the many different types of inputs and overrides you may have provided when costing a component, and also allows you to revert all or selected overrides.
Select Edit > Cost Overrides Summary from the Manufacturing Process pane to invoke the dialog. The dialog presents numerous types of overrides made to the part, including:
• Overridden fields in the Cost Summary, Part Details, and Assembly Details tabs. See
Overriding computed values on page 1.
• Material selections (if a user explicitly selected a material rather than using the default material for the VPE). See
Selecting material on page 1.
• Routing selections (if a user explicitly selected a routing rather than allowing aPriori to auto-select the routing based on lowest cost). See
Selecting a process routing on page 1.
• Machine selections (if a user explicitly selected a machine rather than using the one chosen automatically by aPriori). See
Selecting a machine for an operation on page 1.
• Feasibility rule overrides (if the user unchecked the box indicating the system should apply the default process and machine feasibility rules). See
Selecting a process routing on page 1.
• Process Setup Option settings (if the user edited the default setting for any process setup options). See
Editing process setup options on page 1.
• Tolerance and Roughness settings (if the user explicitly specified any tolerance or roughness values). See
Specifying or importing tolerance and roughness on page 1.
• GCD Properties (such as indicating a hole is threaded). See
Editing values in the GCD properties table on page 1.
• Production inputs if your installation has been configured to automatically map CAD properties. See
Costing with CAD Properties on page
1..
In addition to organizing and summarizing these many types of inputs and overrides, the Cost Overrides Summary dialog also allows you to undo (revert) all or selected overrides. The Clear All Overrides button removes all inputs and overrides applied to the component, allowing you to start fresh. Alternatively, you can remove only selected overrides, such as all the overrides related to a given process, or a single field. Just select the desired row or set of overrides, right click, and select Remove Override from the popup menu.
Note: aPriori Professional Release 2018 R1 introduces three new override features:
1. Overrides that were not previously shown in the Overrides Summary dialog are now displayed:
| |
Flattening options | Sheet Metal-based process groups |
Main Surface selection | Sheet Metal |
User-defined Forms | Sheet Metal-based process groups |
Build Direction | Additive Manufacturing |
Draw Direction | Casting-Die, Casting-Sand, Forging, Powder Metal, Plastic Molding, Roto & Blow Molding, Sheet Plastic |
Ram Direction | Sheet Metal - Transfer Die, Sheet Metal – Stretch Forming |
GCDs excluded from slide/lifter bundling | Casting – Die, Plastic Molding |
GCDs Unmerged from ComboVoids | Casting-Sand, Casting-Die, Plastic Molding, Roto & Blow Molding |
Stock Form and Alignment | Stock Machining, Bar & Tube Fabrication |
User-defined Setup Axes | Stock Machining, secondary machining |
Limit Turning Axes | Stock Machining, secondary machining |
User Defined Attributes* | All process groups |
Tolerance Policy settings | All process groups |
*Previously an override to a User Defined Attribute field was shown only if the field supplied a default value. Now all overrides to User Defined Attribute fields are shown.
2. The Overrides Summary dialog now includes a Comments column, which displays any comments that may be associated with formula overrides.
3. Finally, information about the overrides made to an aPriori scenario can now be included in a spreadsheet report. See
Including information about scenario overrides in Chapter 11 for more information.
