Overriding computed values
In aPriori Desktop, you can manually specify a component’s associated values, overriding the values computed by aPriori using the component’s geometric cost drivers (GCDs), non-geometric cost drivers (such as selected routings, production volume, etc.), properties from the CAD file, and VPE data. This is useful for a wide array of situations that call for customization of cost-related factors. For example, you can override the aPriori labor rate data to better match the labor rates quoted by a supplier, for quote validation purposes.
aPriori Desktop provides two kinds of computed-value override:
Part details overrides: overrides values, such as Labor Time, which are presented in the Part Details or Assembly Details tab. These reflect values for the various processes and operations used to create the component. Overriding a value affects all values that depend on it.
Cost summary overrides: overrides costs, such as Material Cost or Logistics, that are presented in the Cost Summary tab of aPriori Desktop. These reflect costs for the entire routing used to create the component (rather than costs for any individual process or operation). See Performing Part Details overrides and Performing total cost summary overrides.
The Cost Overrides Summary dialog (not to be confused with overrides in the Cost Summary tab) provides a summary of the various overrides and user inputs that are in effect. See Working with the Overrides Summary dialog. To remove overrides, use the Cost Overrides Summary dialog.
