European Automotive Manufacturing – Innovation Strikes Back
From the outside, the European automotive industry may appear in good health. The industry accounts for around 5% of the EU employed population, engaging around 13 million people. At last year’s Paris Motor Show, manufacturers showed three times the number of new models unveiled in 2012.
Nonetheless, despite producing 16.2 million vehicles in 2013, or nearly a fifth of those manufactured across the globe, manufacturers are actually battling a slew of macro-economic and government regulatory issues that are plaguing the industry.
