4th Annual NA STARS Customer Conference a Big Success

As aPriori’s VP of Marketing, I had the honor of hosting our 4th Annual North American STARS Customer Conference at the magnificent JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona this past Monday through Wednesday.

Event Highlights

We had nearly 100 attendees from more than 35 of the top manufacturing firms in the world, plus another 40 of aPriori’s top product cost management experts. Some of the highlights included amazing keynote presentations from Jenn Bennett of GE Digital and Carla Bailo of The Ohio State University, plus 4 compelling case studies from our friends at Soucy International, Cisco Systems, Caterpillar and Celestica.  aPriori’s team delivered 23 different presentations and technical workshops that were designed to turbo-charge the skills of our attendees and accelerate their PCM deployments. Our User Council meeting was a big success, with surprise attendees from 10 new companies that wanted to learn more about how the industry elite were driving product cost savings through their partnership with aPriori. And, speaking of learning, we hosted our first Pre-Conference Training Workshop: “Cost Engineering Essentials for Designers & Engineers” and the program was completely sold out!

Democratization of Cost is Working!

There was a real air of excitement at this conference. As I talked with both old colleagues from long time customers and new faces from first time conference visitors, I could sense an optimism and genuine level of confidence that people were really starting to understand how to leverage PCM across their product lifecycle. Cost Engineers were excited because they were finally getting help on costing from designers and engineers early in the lifecycle; Sourcing & Procurement specialists were excited because they no longer have to fight with their suppliers for a discount, they now have detailed manufacturing information to conduct fact-based negotiations in a way they have never been able to do before.

We are building some serious momentum, and I’m already looking forward to an even bigger and better STARS Customer Conference this summer.  We will be joining with all of our European Colleagues and Customers in Stuttgart, Germany on June 27 – 29.
