Usability Enhancements
aPriori 2019 R2 now recognizes and costs thread features modeled using the “Symbolic Thread” feature in the Siemens NX CAD system. When opening a model containing Symbolic Thread features, aPriori now will set the Threaded property to “true” for GCDs such as SimpleHoles and CurvedWalls if those corresponding features or surfaces have Symbolic Threads applied to them in the NX CAD model, and will assign thread-making operations to those GCDs as appropriate. Previously for NX models, aPriori only recognized and costed threads that were modeled using the “Threaded Hole” feature. As a result, when costing an NX model that contains Symbolic Thread features in aPriori 2019 R2, you will see thread-making operations and costs assigned to the corresponding GCDs, which were not present when costing the same part in earlier versions of aPriori.
Two enhancements were made to improve the usability of cost and manufacturability outputs in the Validation tab and Design to Cost tab:
o The Validation tab was updated to show the total count of tolerances applied to the part, instead of the number of GCDs with tolerances as in previous releases. This change will allow users to confirm more easily that desired tolerances have been imported from the CAD model or entered from a print. This change was made in the Sheet Metal, Casting – Die, Casting – Sand, 2 Model Machining and Stock Machining process groups. This change will not impact costing results.
o The Design to Cost view for thickness violations was updated so that violations are indicated by highlighting exterior surfaces of the part, making it easier to identify where on the part the violations are occurring. This change was made in the Plastic Molding, Casting – Die and Casting – Sand process groups. This change was made in the Plastic Molding, Casting – Die and Casting – Sand process groups has been This change impacts only the display and will not affect costing results.
