What’s New – Quick Summary
This section provides a brief, high-level view of enhanced functionality. For more detailed information, see What’s New – The Details.
Miscellaneous fixes to customer-reported issues and other maintenance issues are described in the section Issues Resolved in aPriori Professional 2019 R2 SP1.
Items in bold italic are considered key new capabilities.

Process Group or Functional Area
Changes
Bar and Tube Fab/
Extrusions
A new bending process Profile 3 Roll Bend is available in the Bar & Tube Fabrication process group.
aPriori continues to improve geometry recognition of machined extrusion parts, including recognizing complex cross-sections in full and identifying small features such as forms and tabs as Not Supported rather than Cutout GCDs
Machine-selection logic was updated for the Extrusion process in order to more accurately select an extrusion press and billet size which results in the lowest cost per part.
The process setup option Punching Strategy for Generic Extrusions has been extended to provide a more complete set of options for specifying when material removal should be performed by Punching or by Machining
Direct and Indirect Overhead Rates were updated for the Extrusion process (initially introduced in aPriori 2019 R2). Some erroneous overhead rate data was inadvertently included in the previous 2019-10 RDL Customers are advised to apply these corrections or make similar ones to any customer VPE data that was derived from the originally published values.
For more details on these and other improvements, see Extrusions / Bar & Tube Fabrication Cost Model Enhancements
Composites
aPriori now provides a “No-Cost Feature” operation which may be assigned to geometry that was extracted as a Core GCD but not intended as such.
Machining
A new process setup option Rough Milling Cut Efficiency allows users to override the default roughing efficiency assumption for an individual part, affecting the cycle time estimates for rough milling operations.
Casting
Specialized degating machines have been added to the Degating process in the Casting – Sand process group. Cycle time calculations and machine selection rules also were updated for the previously available machines (BandSaw and Circular Saw).
Surface Treatment
A new process setup option Anodizing Routing Strategy is available which allows the user to specify whether the anodizing tank is assumed to be filled to capacity, if the specified batch size is less than the capacity of the anodizing tank.
Usability Enhancements
Beginning in aPriori 2019 R2 SP1, users will be notified when they try to include secondary processes for which they are not licensed.
The Formula Dependencies dialog now will display the calculated scrap material unit cost, for all processes that support scrap buyback (also known as scrap material credit) calculations.
Regional Data Libraries
The 2020-01 Regional Data Libraries are available and contain updates to Material Rates, Labor Rates, Overhead Rates, Toolshop Rates, and Currency Exchange Rates for all regions supported by aPriori.
VPE Management and Configuration
aPriori 2019 R2 SP1 provides an ability to clear labor rates set at the machine, process, or VPE level in preparation for adopting the new Labor Wage Grades capability introduced in aPriori 2019 R2.
The Formula Dependencies dialog now displays the name of the skill level which is associated with the labor rate used for a given process, to provide more transparency into labor rate assumptions.
aPriori 2019 R2 SP1 introduces several enhancements to CSL select statements, commonly used when writing cost models. Refer to section VPE Management and Configuration Enhancements in this document for more details.
Administrative Enhancements
The compatibility script updateCompatibleVersions.cmd, which is run when upgrading an installation of aPriori, has been enhanced to handle usernames and passwords which contain various special (non-alphanumeric) characters.
System Administrators can now import a replacement User-Group Association spreadsheet by using the command line interface.
Reporting Enhancements
The new Upgrade Comparison report, the Upgrade Part Comparison report, and the Recommended Test Parts report which were introduced in aPriori 2019 R2 now are available for Cost Insight Report databases that are implemented in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Platform Updates
Cad models built in Autodesk Inventor 2020 and SolidWorks 2020 now are supported for use with aPriori.
The Cost-in-aPriori Plug-ins are certified for use with aPriori 2019 R2 SP1 and supported versions of NX, CATIA, and SolidWorks, with the exception of SolidWorks 2020. The Cost-in-aPriori Plug-in for SolidWorks 2020 is planned to be released in early spring 2020.
Language Support Updates
Dialog text and message text for aPriori capabilities introduced in the 2019 R2 release now have been translated into German, French, Chinese, and Japanese and will be displayed in the desired language when running in the respective locale.
