Which method should I choose?
"Upgrade in place" is relatively quick and simple and is the preferred. This streamlined method was introduced in aPriori 2015 R2. If you are an experienced aPriori customer and you have upgraded since 2015 R2, you may find the new upgrade procedure much simpler. If you are staying with your current database management system (DBMS) during your upgrade, this is the path you should take.
Full migration is a manual and involved process which consists of many steps. It can take significantly longer than an "Upgrade in place". You should only choose this approach if you are moving an existing database to a new DBMS as part of this upgrade (such as moving from MySQL to SQL Server). aPriori may identify other circumstances which necessitates this approach. Full migration is described in Appendix A, Performing a Full Database Migration. Even if you perform this procedure yourself, you should consult with aPriori Customer Support to ensure that things go smoothly.
The final option is to contract with aPriori to perform the actual migration. This process is described in Appendix B, Migration by Support. Only choose this path if you cannot perform an "Upgrade in place" and do not have the resources or the expertise to undertake a full migration.
