Editing bulk costing inputs
There are four ways to enter information about the components in a bulk cost group:
1 Enter information one part at a time in the aPriori Bulk Costing & Analysis table.
For each field you wish to edit, select the field and enter the desired value. Many fields can be typed in by simply double-clicking on the field. You can also select an option from the right-mouse popup menu.
2 Enter identical information for multiple parts at a time
Select multiple parts, holding the control key and clicking the left mouse button to select the fields you want to edit. Then click the right-mouse button and select the appropriate menu option corresponding to the group of data that you want to edit (Production Info, Administrative Info, Quoted Cost, or Process Routing). A pop-up window will appear where you can set the inputs. Enter the desired data and click OK.
3 Use Microsoft Excel to facilitate mass-entering of bulk cost data fields
Copy the data in the aPriori Bulk Costing & Analysis table to Microsoft Excel by selecting Copy Entire Table from the Edit menu.
Paste the information into Microsoft Excel.
Enter the desired values into the Microsoft Excel worksheet
Select the data in Microsoft Excel and paste back into aPriori (select Paste from the Edit menu in the aPriori Bulk Costing & Analysis window). If pasting the entire table, move the cursor to the first row of the table in aPriori, click, and Paste from the Edit menu.
Parts must be in the same order in the Bulking Costing Tool and Excel when copying data from Excel into aPriori.
All fields except for Process Routing can be specified in Excel. If you would like to set a specific routing for a part or group of parts, it must be set in aPriori.
Note: You cannot enter TRUE/FALSE data in Excel cells that are of type = 2. You must change the cells to be type = 4 for them to work properly.
If setting the material composition field in Excel, you must use the exact same material composition name that is used in the selected VPE’s material table.
4 Specify an external spreadsheet (Inputs File) to provide inputs to Bulk Costing and Analysis. If an Inputs File is specified, data from the file takes precedence over information entered directly into the Bulk Costing & Analysis table.
5 After you have completed entering/editing information about the components in a bulk cost group, Save the bulk cost group and proceed to costing.
Note: Production input values provided in this file take precedence over values from other sources. See Precedence of production input overrides for more information.
