Thickness Violations in Casting and Plastic Molding Design to Cost
For the process groups Plastic Molding, Casting-Die, and Casting-Sand, the Thickness panel of the Design to Cost tab displays Recommended Maximum and Recommended Minimum thickness values for the selected part material. These fields are displayed in red if the recommended thresholds are violated. The tab also displays the ratio of the part’s maximum thickness to its minimum thickness. A ratio near 1, that is, near-uniform thickness, is recommended.
Click the Review Thickness button to display the Thickness dialog.
Click Alternate Materials to see the recommended thickness thresholds for all materials.
Click Show Thickness to display thickness violations in the Viewer. Violations are displayed as red spheres. A label is displayed that points to the location of minimum thickness.
To modify the maximum and minimum thickness thresholds, click the Manual Input radio button and enter values into the Max and Min fields. Then click Show Thickness to display thickness violations in the Viewer using the modified thresholds.
You can also display thicknesses that are in a specified range. Click one of the following radio buttons (some or all of them appear in the dialog), and then click Show Thickness:

100%-50% of Recommended Min: click this radio button, and then click Show Thickness to display thicknesses that are between 100% and 50% of the recommended minimum. A label is displayed that points to the location of minimum thickness.
< 50% of Recommended Min: click this radio button, and then click Show Thickness to display thicknesses that are less than 50% of the recommended minimum. A label is displayed that points to the location of minimum thickness.
