Overview of the cost tables
All cost objects in aPriori have a common cost result structure. For example, each cost object has variable costs, fixed costs, and period overhead. The variable costs are made up of material, labor, direct overhead, and other direct costs.
aPriori provides cost information and guidance for parts and assemblies in a series of views, each shown in its own tab:
Part Summary (New in aPriori 2016 R1) -- aggregated key cost information targeted for design engineers and other non-cost experts.
Design to Cost (New in aPriori 2016 R2) a series of tabs and panes providing detailed guidance and functionality enabling design engineers to identify and address possible cost savings. Initially available only for the Stock Machining and Plastic Molding process groups.
Cost Summary – summarized costing information for a part or an assembly.
Part Details and Assembly Details – detailed information about manufacturing times and costs for a part or assembly, respectively. The Part Details and Assembly Details tabs provide some standard out-of-the-box views and also can be configured by users to display specific views, containing specific sets of information.
The Assembly Details tab also provides some predefined views for convenience, including the Assembly Process Detail view.
Investment – information about the hard tooling, fixturing, programming, and other amortized investment expenses.
Assembly Tracker – graphically summarizes and presents assembly and subcomponent cost information in pie charts and bar charts.
Each view, except for the Part Summary, Design to Cost, and the Assembly Tracker, provides Current, Previous, and Last Saved information.
Cost outputs for Roll-ups, Comparisons, and Analyses, show the following:
For a Roll-up – the sum of cost details of all the components included in the Roll-up.
For a Comparison – cost details for each component included in the Comparison on a separate line. This provides a convenient way to compare cost details.
For an Analysis – cost details for each component included in the Analysis on a separate line. Additional tools are provided to analyze the price difference.
