Specifying simultaneous operations
With aPriori Manufacturing Cost Models, you can specify simultaneous operations for turned parts manufactured on a 4-axis or 6-axis lathe. Custom VPEs can be more broadly configured to contain operations assignment logic with includes support for automatic determination of simultaneous operations.
To specify simultaneous operations
1 Select a routing that contains a 4-axis or 6-axis lathe process
2 In the Manufacturing Process pane, expand the tree to display the lathe process node and the operations and associated GCDs below that node. Under the lathe process node, you also will see a node called "Simultaneous Group.
3 You can drag-and-drop operations on specific GCDs into the "Simultaneous Group" node, to indicate they should be performed simultaneously:
First click on the GCD row; it will be highlighted in blue.
Next, click on the same GCD row and hold down the mouse key, drag it over to the Simultaneous Group node, and release the mouse key.
The operation and GCD nodes will be moved under the Simultaneous Group node.
Select a routing that contains a 4-axis or 6-axis lathe process
To remove an operation from the simultaneous Group node
Use the same technique described in step 3 above to drag-and-drop the GCD back to the 4-axis or 6-axis lathe process node. The operation/GCD will be moved back to its original location and no longer appear under the Simultaneous Group node.
