Creating custom processes and routings
You can create a custom routing for a part or assembly by inserting additional processes (including simple user-defined custom processes), reordering processes, and excluding processes. You may also customize an operation sequence performed to a specific GCD. This allows you to provide a routing variation and capture complete costs in situations where the pre-defined routings do not completely represent the actual manufacturing production processes performed on that component. Common situations where this may be useful include routings which use multiple instances of a single process (e.g., a part that is initially cut on one waterjet machine and later undergoes another cutting operation on a second waterjet machine), or routings which include simple secondary processes such as Inspections that are performed at various points throughout the routing. It is also very common to manually add surface treatments at the end of a routing.
Note that some processes cannot be manually added, such as milling or turning, progressive die, etc. Any processes that can be manually added are listed in the column displayed for Customize Routing.
Note aPriori Services can also extend your VPEs to extend the set of processes and pre-defined routings that are always available).
