Calculations related to yield
The following are yield calculations:
Num. of Scrap Parts = (Output Volume / Good Part Yield) – Output Volume
Output Volume = Total Production Volume + Downstream Num. of Scrap Parts
Input Volume = Output Volume + Num. of Scrap Parts (process-level)
Downstream Num of Scrap Parts = Num. of Scrap Parts + Downstream Num of Scrap Parts
This calculates the sum of all scrap downstream (to the right in the block diagram above), not including the current process. This value simply stores the scrap value for the next upstream process.
Final Yield = Output Volume / ( Input Volume + Downstream Num of Scrap Parts)
The following are calculations affected by yield:
Labor Cost = (Labor Rate * Labor Time) / Final Yield
Direct Overhead Cost = ((Labor Cost * Overhead Multiplier) + (Overhead Rate * Cycle Time)) / Final Yield
Expendable Tooling Cost Per Part = (Expendable Tooling formula) / Final Yield
Additional Direct Costs = (Additional Direct Costs formula) / Final Yield
Material Cost = (Rough Mass * Stock Cost Per Kg) / Final Yield
