Change material stock
The Material Stock panel shows the following information:
Requested — the requested stock source, Auto or Manual. A third option, Custom Cut, is available for Bar & Tube Fabrication parts.
Selected — the presently selected stock.
To change material stock
1 In the Manufacturing Process pane, click the Material button. The Material Selection window is displayed.
2 Click the button in the Material Stock panel. The Material Stock panel expands.
3 Select a material stock mode.
Auto — aPriori selects the material stock. This is the default option.
The algorithm for automatic stock selection is defined as part of the facility model. Typically, the stock selection algorithm depends on geometry constraints, material utilization, machine selection, and routing selection.
If no valid stock is available, aPriori computes the cost with virtual stock.
Manual — You select the material stock from the list of material stock available for the selected material composition.
Custom Cut — Available for Bar & Tube Fabrication parts only, you specify a custom stock length, either by specifying the total length or indicating size-to-fit with a specified trim allowance.
4 Choose Manual and select an available material stock from the list. Stock that is not valid is disabled.
or
For Bar & Tube Fabrication parts, Specify Custom Stock inputs (total length or trim allowance).
5 Click Ok to apply changes, recalculate the cost, and close the Material Selection window; or click Apply to apply changes and recalculate the cost without leaving the Material Selection window.
Note If no appropriate stocks are found in the list of available material stocks, then the Manual option is grayed out, and the system will create a virtual stock. This can happen, for example, if all stock cross-sections are too small to accommodate the part.
