Change selection policy

The selection policy describes:

• how the material selection input is provided — by you or through the CAD system

• what aPriori does if the provided input is invalid

To change the selection policy

1 In the Manufacturing Process pane, click the Material button.

2 In the Material Composition panel, click Edit Selection Policy. The Composition Selection Mode panel opens.

3 Select:

• MCAD — this is the default source for material selection. If the MCAD choice is not provided or not available for the selected VPE, the VPE default material is selected.

• VPE Default — The default material must be defined for every VPE.

• Manual — Material selected manually by you. The VPE default is selected if your specified choice cannot be costed.

4 Click Ok to apply changes, recalculate the cost, and close the Material Selection window, or Apply to apply changes and recalculate the cost without leaving the Material Selection window.

The Material Composition Mode that you select here shows in the Requested field. If the material selected using this mode is invalid for costing, aPriori chooses a different mode according to the selection policy. However, the requested mode remains the same until you change it manually.

For example, if you selected MCAD, but the material specified by the CAD system is unavailable for the selected VPE, the VPE default material will be used for costing. The Requested mode will be MCAD and the Selected mode will be VPE default.
