Using dynamic roll-ups
An aPriori Dynamic roll-up is similar to a roll-up in that it appears to be a list of parts, virtual parts, and assemblies. However, unlike a roll-up, a Dynamic roll-up cannot contain roll-ups or other Dynamic roll-ups, because the contents of a Dynamic roll-up are determined by saved search terms that enable the list to update over time.
A Dynamic roll-up:
can include virtual parts
has no associated CAD component and process costs
can return different components over time
A Dynamic roll-up allows you to save and reopen a search at any time to review the current results. For example, this can help you track activity associated with particular projects, users, or process groups over the last 30 days, at recurring intervals of your choosing.
Where a roll-up is a fixed list of components that may be edited on a part by part basis, a Dynamic roll-up is a changing (or dynamic) list of components that is determined by fixed search criteria (which also may be edited). See Creating and editing roll-ups on page 1.
