Displaying part characteristics
Click the button in the Component Viewer tool bar to bring up the list of characteristics that you can display for the part opened in the Component Viewer. Different characteristics can be displayed for different Manufacturing Process Groups.
Note The display options are available only for parts.
Once you select a characteristic, it is displayed in the Component Viewer and the corresponding GCDs are highlighted in the GCD pane.
The following display options are available:
Show GCD Labels — available for all Process Groups — displays GCD labels for all highlighted GCDs.
Setup Axes — available for Bar & Tube, Casting, Machining, and Sheet Metal Process Groups — shows the setup axes to be used for machining. The setup axes can be created automatically by aPriori or manually by you.
Cross Section — available for the Bar & Tube Process Group — shows the cross section of the stock material.
Turning Profile — available for turned parts (Bar & Tube Fabrication or Casting primary process groups — displays the turning profile (cross-section of the part on a plane passing through the turning axis).
Note: to highlight axisymmetric volumes removed by turning operations in the Component Viewer, you can select Ring GCDs in the Geometric Cost Driver pane.
Parting Line — available for Casting and Injection Molding Process Groups — shows the line dividing the top/left side of the mold from the bottom/right side of the mold.
Projected CSA — available for Casting and Injection Molding Process Groups — shows projected cross section area for the part.
Thickness — available for Casting and Injection Molding Process Groups— shows the minimum and maximum thickness of the part walls.
Cores — available for Injection Molding Process Group — highlights moving side cores.
Material Nesting — available for Sheet Metal Process Group — shows how the part’s flat outline is nested within a stock material sheet.
Flat Outline — available for Sheet Metal Process Group — shows the smallest rectangle that encloses the part before bending.
