Select Tools > User Preferences > Default Production Inputs… . The Default Production Inputs window appears. This window allows you to specify personalized default values for Production Info settings, including the default Process Group, VPE, Material, Annual Volume, Production Life, and Batch Size fields. Once you have specified your personalized default values, when costing a new component, the Cost Object Window and Cost Guide will be pre-populated using the specified defaults.

This preference enables you to set defaults that are relevant to the types of parts or projects you are working on. They can be changed at any time. User-level production input preferences will take precedence over any site-wide defaults; if no user-level production inputs are specified, then the site-wide defaults will be applied.
