The aPriori interface
aPriori’s graphical user interface (GUI) was designed to generally reflect Microsoft standards and contains the usual tool bars, buttons, and windows associated with every Microsoft-compliant graphical application.
As a result, only those features of the GUI that relate to performing aPriori-specific tasks are explained in this guide. We assume, for example, that you are familiar with standard Windows conventions, such as dragging a window’s title bar to move the window or clicking the close button to close the window.
The aPriori Desktop is organized into the following areas:
Cost Guide – Optionally displayed at the left side of the window. Assists you in providing information needed to make an accurate costing of the current component.
Component scenario tab – Typically displayed in the middle of the window. Lets you manipulate the component in 3D in a component viewer; displays cost information on the Part Summary, Design to Cost, Cost Summary, Part (or Assembly) Details, and Investment tabs; and allows you to modify the cost inputs on the Manufacturing Process and Geometric Cost Drivers panes.
Message pane – Displays information from aPriori as it evaluates the costs associated with alternative ways of manufacturing the component.
